Reasons Why You Should Read a News Magazine

A news magazine is essentially a printed, digital, and broadcast magazine, usually aired or printed weekly, generally consisting of news reports about current events. The major difference between a daily newspaper and a news magazine, is that in a newspaper the events themselves are reported as occurring "on the news" the next day. In a news magazine, a story will be presented as if it were a story for the day, usually with an additional feature or teaser at the end.

The purpose of a news magazine, like that of a daily newspaper, is to present serious reporting on matters of public interest, with a focus on events which may affect the general public. Newsmagazines also provide the public with the first look at new movies, games, music, and books coming out. There are many other types of magazines available, from religious to entertainment, financial to sports, but none has ever achieved the same level of popular acclaim as a news magazine. For this reason, news reporting remains one of the most respected forms of writing around.

The term "news" is used broadly, to describe any bit of information that informs, although often with reservation. News is also subjective, with many people claiming to know "the news." This could include anything from local events to international happenings. News can be subjective because it is normally written to cater to a particular audience. This is usually done to give readers an idea of what is happening in a specific region, city, state, or country at any given time. For instance, a sports magazine that exclusively features the latest sports events from around the world would be considered a news magazine.

A major part of the appeal of news is that the information is normally from a reputable third party. Many times, professional or expert sources are interviewed in the course of creating a news report, sometimes without the knowledge or consent of the source itself. While the intentions behind these interviews can vary widely, the end result is normally accurate. For example, a news story about the recent conflict in Iraq would likely mention details from several different government and military sources. From these accounts, a general picture of how that conflict began to develop would be formed.

Because there are so many different ways to tell a story, magazines have a wealth of opportunities for interesting stories. Whether it's the scoop that a travel magazine got from some far off location, the first bird's eye view of a new city, or something completely outrageous, you're sure to find something interesting if you log onto your favorite news site at least once a week. It doesn't matter if you choose to read the news online or print. News carries much more weight than many of the topics that are discussed on television or in books. People tend to take more notice of the major developments around the globe and pay more attention to what is going on in their own backyards, because they are directly affected by those events.

Today, it seems that there is just as much interest in global warming as there was during the years when Al Gore gave his speech about the greenhouse effect. In fact, many people read the news magazine just to keep track of what is being done to save the environment. It may seem silly to think that people are interested in the environment and want to know what Al Gore is doing to make global warming stop, but there are actually serious political discussions going on all over the world.
