If you're looking for new songs to listen to on your commute, you've come to the right place. We've collected the best new songs of the week, so you can choose a track to blast out the speakers in your car or listen to while traveling. Listen to some of the best songs of the week below and find out which ones will be influencing radio listeners in the near future. Whether you prefer rap or pop music, we've got you covered.

Leonard Cohen released ten new songs in 2001, which were co-written and produced by Sharon Robinson in Cohen's Los Angeles home studios. The album was Cohen's first release in almost 10 years and peaked at #143 on the Billboard 200. The album went platinum and reached number one in Canada and Poland. It was also used in the movie The Good Thief. And while it was only the fifth album from Cohen's latest work, it still managed to be a smash hit in a few countries.

Throughout Latin America, nueva cancion became popular and the lyrics were often politically charged. As the movement grew, the ruling dictatorships reacted. Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet banned many traditional Andean instruments and stifled the New Song Movement. Victor Jara, who had a leading role in the movement, was tortured and murdered in the National Stadium in Santiago. Some of the popular ensembles were forced to leave Chile. In fact, Quilapayun and a few other popular ensembles spent fifteen years in exile in the U.S.

Other artists releasing new albums this week include the indie rock group Duster, who released Together last week. The new album features collaborations with Bronx rapper T-Shyne and Canadian pop singer LIGHTS. Among the other New songs in the genre, "Crystal Ballad" by Harry's House is a risky and vulnerable first single. It's a beautiful track that captures the sultry energy and vulnerability of the new album.

Russ Lee and Scotty Wilbanks left NewSong in 2000, and Michael O'Brien and Steve Reischl took their place. Leonard Ahlstrom, who had teamed up with the band, left the group to manage a label in Florida. DC Daniel, a producer who had worked with NewSong for a decade, then went on to work with NewSong on some production ideas. They released Sheltering Tree in late 2000.

In the 1970s, popular unity government in Chile was led by Salvador Allende, the first socialist government in the region and was seen by the Left as a beacon of hope. The banner of the new government stated "You Can't Have a Revolution Without Songs." In addition to expressing the role of music in social change, nueva cancion tapped into a growing political movement. During times of violence, lyrics relating to human rights and poverty often sounded directly to the masses.
