Impersonating a Government Employee - Possible Consequences

Identity document forgery is basically the act by which persons unauthorized to make such documents to the effecting of legal obligations duplicate, modify or falsely issued identification documents issuing in the name of another person. A typical example of such type of fraud is when a person changes his or her name by deed poll without informing the Registrar of record and thereby becomes entitled to a number of benefits under the act. Another type of id forgery occurs when persons use a false birth certificate to get financial benefits and social security benefits and when he or she finally gets their benefits. Another example of identity forgery happens when persons create a false public or private record, such as marriage certificate, and use it to get financial benefits in the form of loans, mortgages and even credit cards. Such acts can either be committed by an individual or a group of people to defraud the public or another entity.

It may sound shocking that anyone can create a fake ID and defraud the state, but it is true that it happens more often than one would think. For instance, someone else using your social security number to register at a hotel might be using you as a false identity, thereby stealing your benefits. Likewise, someone else using your driver's license to get credit or loans may be using your name to commit offenses. Likewise, someone else using your birth certificate to apply for a false tax return may be committing identity forgery. Similarly, someone else using your false identification documents to get credit or loans may also be committing identity forgery.

But not all fraud is criminal. There are cases when you create a fake identification to hide an illegal act. For instance, if you are caught as suspect in a bank robbery, you may claim that you are another person. Even if you are really the person accused of the crime, you may end up spending time in jail because of this and will have a false ID. Similarly, if you are falsely accused of a crime, you may need to provide a fake identification to police so they can search for you. In many states, this can lead to years of jail time, hefty fines and a lot of physical and financial hardship.

But if you are thinking that your life will be ruined because the police get involved, you are mistaken. First, remember that the police are only concerned about finding out the truth, not about chasing you around the courthouse and putting you in jail. Therefore, if you are guilty of a crime, remember that you can hire an attorney and explain to him or her why you made a mistake using false identification documents. If the attorney does not appear, the judge will automatically dismiss the charges against you. However, this is not an option that you should take if you do not want to get involved in any other legal issues that may arise in the future.

Secondly, even if you are innocent, you still need to understand that there are legal consequences for having  Fake id and for using it while you are in fact driving. Even if the police find out that you are innocent, they may still arrest you for impersonating a government employee. This means that even if you have insurance, you could end up with a hefty fine or in some cases a longer jail sentence. You may even lose your job because it would be considered inappropriate for an employee in a government office to possess an ID that looks like yours.

Another consequence of impersonating a government employee or even a legal representative is that you could face serious consequences from a liquor store. In most states, a liquor store can deny sales to any customer who carries a fake ID. Even worse, in some states like Texas, a person can be held criminally liable for possession of fake identification at a liquor store. Additionally, you can be put in jail for up to three years, pay heavy fines and be forced to undergo rehabilitation, if you are convicted of impersonating a public official. Therefore, if you plan to go to a liquor store and you happen to get caught carrying a fake ID, simply make sure that you are not an impostor.
