A New London-based Pop-Up Invasions Brand
Trapstar soon after launching. Trapstar is the very new streetwear brand launched by the now legendary Trap Records label based out of London, UK. The brand is an allusion to some of the biggest rappers of the eighties and early nineties who established the now-famous street Gangsta/Gangsta rap image which has remained virtually unaltered to this day. It should be noted, however, that while the style has remained virtually unaltered over the years, Trapstar has decidedly come into its own with their clothing, particularly with regard to this year's collection. The brand is all about cutting-edge, edgy street fashion with a twist. Trapstar are clearly aware that their main target is teenage girls, and they therefore have opted to target and cater specifically towards this market.
What's so alluring about trapstar? The brand is well known for its eye-catching, colourful designs. Trapstar are known for putting a bit of colour into their designs and for having one of the most original fashion concepts in the business. The flagship store for the brand, located in Covent Garden in central London, embodies this notion perfectly with colourful posters boasting the latest in trap music trends and a pop-up area featuring Trapstar products such as their signature "trap" mouse pads.
What makes Trapstar so alluring? Their range includes a wide variety of tops and bottoms, each one based on an original artist such as Akon, J. Cole, Styles, Juicy Couture and more. What sets them aside from many of their competitors is their interesting use of colour schemes. For example, one of their most popular ranges, the " Trapstar" range is made from bright orange and black - one of the most popular colours in pop culture today. This branding strategy makes Trapstar very different from other brands, which often try to emulate current styles without taking the time to create new, bolder ones.
In what context should you wear Trapstar? Although they're designed for women, the brand has managed to appeal to male fashion enthusiasts too. During this year's Fashion Week in London, trapstar was featured in the Red Line segment of the show, where fashion experts were allowed to compare the way the clothing is worn by different celebrities. While there are a number of male fashion designers who have their own brands, few have managed to make such a positive impact yet as Trapstar has done.
Although Trapstar aren't as well loved by boys (although this may change with time), it's safe to say that the brand capitalises on the fact that there are few fashion-forward men in the world. It's also easy to see why a lot of women love Trapstar's bright colours and unique styles. Although trapstar isn't the most popular brand in Britain, it's certainly a well-established and highly recognizable brand in the fashion world, and its existence and success in the UK is a testament to that.
Trapstar was founded by two guys who happened to live and work in New York - Mike Williams and Paul Thompson. By chance, the pair met when they were skateboarding at the same place each weekend. They then decided that a clothing brand needs to be about more than just making high-quality streetwear, and so Trapstar was born. Today, trapstar remains a brand to be reckoned with thanks to its cutting-edge designs, funky attitude and constant innovation.
